Bird Watching Can Change Your Life

There is no better way to start the day (& week) than spending time in God's Word. Did you know that bird watching can change your perspective, your day, and even your life. In Luke 12 Jesus is communicating about the uselessness of worry and how it won't add a single hour to your life. In fact, it robs you of life (in this present moment as well as by shortening your life). Jesus tells us that we can draw some spiritual truths just by watching birds (the raven specificly). "They don't sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds!" Did you catch that? God made birds. He loves His creation and even takes care of the birds. But he wants you to know how much more valuable YOU are than the birds that he created and cares for. He wants you to observe and see the spiritual truth that is flying around us everyday. Of all the things that God created and values, YOU are His greatest treasure! I love the father-heart of God. He doesn't want you to worry. He wants you to know & comprehend how valuable you are. He puts birds around you everyday to remind you that you are valued & cherished. Just embracing that melts all the worries away. Have a worry free & great day =)

This Was BIG!

Celebrating a supernatural mission trip in Costa Rica with Harvest Church of Watagua, TX!! It was 9 of the best days of my life with 40+ of the best people on the planet as we clothed & prayed for thousands of people in a very poor town. Thank you Ben DeWitt for daring to do BIG things! Thank you Sandi Schiveley Davis, Laurie Rodriguez, Aloha Orton Bishop, Brian Tarter, and all the Harvest leaders & church members for supporting that BIG dream! Thank you Danilo Valverde Alvarado & all the hard workers of Iglesia Buen Pastor Church for your partnership in this BIG idea! Thank you Laurie Finger for obeying God when He burdened your heart for this hardly noticed poor community & for accepting this BIG challenge! Thank you GTD supporters for helping enable all of us to make a BIG differnce in so many people's lives! And most importantly, thank you Jesus for being a BIG God who inspired & accomplished it ALL!!!

Morning Activity

It's been an exhausting morning for a team of us who walked the dirt streets of a poor community here in Costa Rica called Pijije.  It's hot here, and I think I speak for us all when I say our clothes are soaked with sweat and we have dirt and dust sticking all over us from handing out invitations and numbered bracelets door to door for people to come pick up donated clothing tomorrow, Saturday and Monday! What a blessing to be used by God to impact a community of this size!  I'm humbled to be a part of such an amazing project.  One of my favorite parts of this morning was when this little girl in the photo saw me from way down the road and ran into my arms. We may not speak the same language, but our love for one another speaks volumes. 

Harvest 7.1 Student Ministry Has Arrived!

We were so happy to welcome the 7.1 student ministry of Harvest Church from Keller Texas to Costa Rica today!  They arrived with the most luggage ever....4,000 pound of clothes and supplies to help clothes one of the poorest communities we have been introduced to here called Pijije.  It's a God sized project with a lot of moving parts and we trust The Lord's hand and orchestration of it all!  Please pray for us as we all dig in tomorrow with painting activities at the church, organizing clothing, preparing for the children's carnival tomorrow afternoon and handing out flyers to invite families to pick up clothes later this week!  We appreciate tor prayers and only wish God to be glorified and honored as we reach out and share his love.

Special People

Beyond bless to spend time with the Cruz family last night. These are my "adopted" Costa Rican Grandparents. They have been such a huge blessing in my life and I am so grateful for the relationship God has blessed us with.  Praise The Lord Flor had a doctors appointment and was given a clean bill of health after a scare earlier in the yer after surgery. Please pray for their family, for their health, that God's blessings fill their life and that their newest Grandson would soon get his trach and feeding tube out. 

Costa Rica 2014: Interns

We are almost a week in and it has already been an adventure! We are Abbey and Savannah, and are the GTD Costa Rica interns this year. Here are some of the highlights of our experience in Fortuna so far:

We have been setting up a lot of the cabinas for the team from Harvest church that is arriving next Tuesday. This includes getting mattresses, setting up fans, getting bedding, and making a food menu for the week. Also we have been planning all the details that go into clothing an entire village. It is a huge project, but we know The Lord will provide! 

Last night we had a break from all the work we have been doing and got to travel up to the windmills. Up by the windmills you can see the entire volcano and surrounding mountains. It was such a beautiful sight. We got to run through fields and have so much fun. It was a blessing. The Lord also provided us with a beautiful sunset. Last night was a joy!

And finally this morning we got to go into town for a local parade. It was cool seeing the local culture and people celebrating.

We are so excited for what The Lord has been doing in our hearts and for what He still has for us. Please keep us in your prayers and the team that is arriving on Tuesday! We know that when The Lord shows up, big things happen. Praise Him!

Way Behind on Blog Posts

Wow, we have been going a million miles per hour over the past month. Praise God, we had 4 fantastic Adventure Trips and are transitioning to our Costa Rica Mission Trip Program. We are way behind on blog posts, but we look forward to recapping all the amazing things that God did on the past 4 trips as well as posting updates about everything GTD. Thanks for your patience fellow GTDers =)

Another Great Adventure Trip w/ FCD

I wish I had time to write more, and hopefully I can expand more later... BUT we had another great Adventure Trip with the Family Center on Deafness and the ASL students from Pinellas Park High School. We thank God for all the fun & safe times we had this past week. =)

Adventure Dogs

Courage and Faith are two of the BEST camping buddies you could ever want! They are best of friends, great trail dogs, super friendly, scare off other animals, alert us of visitors, check on me when I leave my tent or go to the bathroom, they keep me company, they wake me up with kisses and they are always excited to go on an adventure!

So so so proud of this young man! My nephew Carson is serving as a Jr Guide on 3 Adventure Trips and he is doing a fantastic job. He is daily displaying acts of bravery & overcoming fears... and he is only 11 =)
