THANK YOU SO MUCH FREDRICK JAMES!! ...GTD's ANNUAL TAXES COMPLETED!!

For the first time in many years our annual corporate taxes have been filed well before our extension deadline of Nov 15th. Our profound THANKS and deep APPRECIATION to our amazing accountants - Fredrick James Accounting - for volunteering their services each year to bless GTD with the completion and submission of our corporate tax filings with the IRS!! They save us about $5000 per year!! They can't complete the forms until I have completed all the bookkeeping from the previous year which is something that I'm historically waaaaay behind on (especially during the caregiving years) which means we usually aren't filing our tax forms until right before the extension deadline in mid Nov. However, this year we are about 5 months ahead of the game PTL!! Lord willing, that's something I aim to stay on top of so that we stay ahead of the game going into our next 30 years of ministry!! Any way you slice it - whether I'm early, on time, or super late - Fredrick James is always on top of it! They not only "go the distance" for GTD... they actually go the extra mile!! God bless you guys!

(And on a side note, if you're looking for a top notch accountant & consultant for your business I highly recommend FJA!!)

SETTING UP A GOD-AWESOME BASE CAMP FOR SCC's YOUNG ADULTS!

We are waaaaay ahead of schedule! So far nothing has delayed us (which is kind of unusual lol). In fact, we arrived to camp 3 days before our first group of the summer arrives (the young adults from Suncoast Community Church of Largo, Florida). Soooooooo, that means we get a 3 day head start setting up camp which means we get to go at a no-pressure pace and thoroughly enjoy our work, our environment, and our fellowship. Two of our volunteers - Andrew & Gaby - have now joined us!

For TEAM GTD, assembling a Base Camp is more than just randomly setting up a few tents, chairs and a mess hall. We want to create an environment that our groups love. We want to create a Base Camp that is inviting & fun. We want their first impression of their Base Camp to be, "Wow! Sweet! I love hammocks! Who wants to play volleyball! You've got cots, cool! This place is awesome!" Those kind of responses are the kind of responses we get when we set up a Base Camp "The GTD Way". The GTD Way is deliberate, creative, functional and fun. Our objective is to create a temporary playground that promotes spiritual growth, recreation, community, sound sleep, physical renewal, outdoor dining, fun times, adequate hygiene and warmth while preserving a feel of being in God's amazing creation (which reveals the evidence of God). We hope SCC loves it as much as we do!

GETTING READY FOR A GOD-AWESOME ADVENTURE!!

Many things go into PLANNING, PREPARING, & PROVIDING (those are the 3 P's of GTD) a God-awesome Adventure Trip (especially the first big trip of each summer), and our magnificent Ministry Partners around the US often help launch us into our upcoming events. Our most important piece of mechanical equipment are our trucks (our profound thanks to the City of Pinellas Park for donating this incredible 2008 F250 to GTD several years ago!!)... without our trucks we couldn't haul all of our equipment in order to provide the potentially life changing event. So step 1 of kicking off the summer is our regular maintenance, "check-up", & oil change. PTL, everything is functioning great so we move on to Step 2 - haul the heavy trailer towards camp while purchasing all of our food & supplies to run the trip. GTD has THE BEST SUPPORTERS!! Almost everywhere we travel we have a Ministry Partner nearby, and they always open their homes to us (unless I smell real bad haha). So as we travel towards our ultimate destination we get to spend quality time with the fantastic people who help make this ministry possible. This time our journey took us through Easley, South Carolina where we got to stay with Jason & Heather (seeing them is always one of my biggest highlights of the summer!). We got to workout in their garage gym, enjoy their beautiful garden & backyard oasis, walk the dog thru the neighborhood as we keep up with our daily steps, enjoy delicious home cooked meals, and get some great fellowship & sleep before we head on to camp! They literally LAUNCH US into camp rested up & ready to go for non-stop physically demanding outdoor activities & adventures! They are just as much a part of our success as our staff, volunteers, & equipment. As Carson & I depart for camp we pick up our food order from Sam's Club just 10 minutes from their house. With 85% of our food purchased we head off for Lakemont, Georgia to meet up with our Volunteers and begin setting up camp. What lies ahead??? Only God knows, but we are on our way!! Stay tuned!
