An early season snow front turned our attempt at hiking a 14er (14,000 ft mtn) into a challenging snow hike.
We gave it a valiant effort, but without a visible trail at times along with sections of 3 ft deep of snow we ran out of time at the 13k level. If we had a couple more hours of daylight we were physically capable of continuing on, but with the sun setting and temperatures dropping we had to turn around and head back down.
It was a great and challenging adventure abounding with natural beauty and savored moments despite not making it to the top. There is still much gain for those who venture and fail, but only lifelong regrets remain for those who fail to venture.
