We had a fabulous time on our annual FREE Day-Before-Easter LIQUID Paddling Trek this past Saturday at Weedon Island!! The weather and participants and trail were absolutely PERFECT! Aaaaaaaaand we even "threw in" a few fly overs at no extra charge (hahaha!) from the US Air Force Thunderbirds who were performing at the Air Show across the bay at MacDill Air Force Base. We had squishy ball & water blaster wars as well as our annual kayak race. Our Easter devotions were from Hebrews 12:1-2. It was a fantastic and refreshing day!!
AND for a brief moment it looked like the event may not happen... with all the kayaks & lunch prepared and ready to go the Weedon Island Preserve parking lots were completely full so none of our participants had anywhere to park and the Park Rangers were out in full force ticketing anyone not in a parking space. Well, our participants showed up and started solving the dilemma quickly... one mom had a mini van and said she could shuttle people to the kayak launch... another participant drove off campus to find a local park that people could park at for a few hours... I was working the phone & texts to coordinate with our shuttle driver & participants... and everyone was working hard to make sure no one missed this event!! It was awesome!! In the end we were able to get everyone in a parking space & at the kayak launch with only minimal time lost. I love the caliber of go-getters that go on our events... it was a total team effort, and it was so worth it... we had such a great time PTL!!
