GTD Status Report: God is up to something very special! If you have followed our ministry over the past 6+ years then you know that I believe the enemy tried to piggyback onto the exhaustion, grief, depression, & raw emotion during our caregiving journey. The Bible talks about how the devil prowls around like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. After the devil's FAILED attempt at tempting Jesus in the wilderness the Bible states that satan "withdrew until a more OPPORTUNE time" (emphasis mine). That's how diseases work; they are OPPORTUNISTIC. Diseases are all around us all the time, but often can't infect us UNTIL OUR IMMUNE SYSTEM IS WEAKENED. Stress, inadequate sleep, & exhaustion are 3 big suppressors of the immune system... physically & spiritually. Those happen to be 3 characteristics often synonymous with caregiving. The ultimate disease - the devil - stalks us like a lion and waits for an opportunity to strike. That OPPORTUNE TIME often happens when our spiritual immune system is suppressed & weakened. As I've shared numerous times the caregiving journey of the past 5+ years wore my immune system down (spiritually, physically, mentally, & emotionally). That is not a commentary in any way on my parents. My parents are amazing and currently bask in the eternal joy of God's presence, but the process & demand of caregiving nearly killed me. In fact, most caregivers die before those they care for. It weakened my entire immune system. It became the opportune time for the devil to pounce. And it almost worked. Almost! I believe that the ministry was the devil's real target and he was trying to kill GTD by killing me. It almost worked. ALMOST! But like a phoenix rising from the ashes (or better yet, like Jesus rising from the dead) God is raising us back to life again! Our calendar is filling back up again. My cup is filling back up again. Much ministry is about to happen! God is up to something very special... every week He is giving us a little more glimpse at the ministry He is about to unleash. The devil lost another one! I is free! I is free! Now we are preparing for the next 30 years of ministry when our culture needs Christ-centered outdoor adventures now more than ever. Obsession and addiction to technology is literally killing us... and especially killing our youth & young adults. People need quality time in nature and authentic relationships now more than ever. God has spared the life of this ministry for such a time as this. God will use this ministry now more than ever! Each week I understand better and better of why the devil fought so hard to stop this ministry. I can't wait to see what fruit God brings in the months & years ahead... the months & years the devil fought so hard to infect & prevent. Buuuuuut, the devil lost another one! Thank You Jesus!!!
