"THE MIGHTY 5" NATIONAL PARKS OF UTAH:

The following National Park descriptions were taken from www.visitutah.com.
Click links to read more.

It’s no surprise that Arches National Park is one of the top national parks in America: it’s a 73,234-acre wonderland of eroded sandstone fins, towers, ribs, gargoyles, hoodoos, balanced rocks, and, of course, arches northwest of Moab. The park protects an amazing landscape that includes the largest proliferation of arches in the world. Over 2,000 arches (with an arch considered an opening with one side at least 3 feet wide) have been catalogued in Arches National Park...

Imagine wave after wave of deep canyons, towering mesas, pinnacles, cliffs and spires stretching across 527 square miles. This is Canyonlands National Park... Located to the west of the town of Moab and a short distance from Arches National Park, Canyonlands National Park is wild and wonderful and diverse in its landscapes and travel opportunities. Due to the park’s massive size, Canyonlands has four separate “districts,” including three land districts and the rivers themselves...

Even considering Utah’s many impressive national parks and monuments, it is difficult to rival Capitol Reef National Park’s sense of expansiveness; of broad, sweeping vistas; of a tortured, twisted, seemingly endless landscape; of limitless sky and desert rock... the less-visited Capitol Reef is almost like a planet unto itself... an evocative world of spectacular colored cliffs, hidden arches, massive domes, and deep canyons... a less crowded park that can offer a more relaxing experience...

Every year, Bryce Canyon National Park awes visitors with spectacular geological formations and brilliant colors. The towering hoodoos, narrow fins, and natural bridges seem to deny all reason or explanation, leaving hikers gazing around with jaws agape in wondrous incredulity. This surreal landscape is what brings people from around the world to visit Bryce Canyon National Park... Hiking in Bryce Canyon National Park is the best way to immerse yourself in the amazing geography...

Zion National Park is a canyon that invites you to participate in the very forces that created it... step into the Virgin River and see the colorful strata that mark the ages rising for thousands of feet up to a narrow strip of sky, then hike to seemingly impossible places and heights... canyons and mesas boast an especially exquisite beauty... Breathtaking Zion Canyon is the centerpiece of this 147,000-acre parkland... Opportunities to see and explore abound for people of all ages and abilities...

NOTABLE DESTINATIONS AND OPTIONAL ACTIVITY LOCATIONS:

  • DELICATE ARCH - THE MOST PHOTOGRAPHED ARCH IN THE WORLD! Delicate Arch in Arches National Park stands over 6-stories tall and is the most photographed arch in the world. It's on magazine covers internationally. This stunning awe-inspiring rock formation has become the quintessential embodiment of Utah itself. Its image even appears on the state license plates. (To visit Delicate Arch requires a moderate 3-mile round trip hike.)

  • WHAT'S BETTER THAN A SINGLE ARCH? A DOUBLE ARCH! A single arch is a rare natural occurrence so you can only imagine how rare it is to observe a double arch in which a leg from each arch joins into the same base rock. It's simply known as, Double Arch, and you'll get to experience it up-close and personal in Arches National Park.

  • MESA ARCH ISN'T JUST A BACKGROUND FOR YOUR COMPUTER DESKTOP! We will visit one of the most renowned arches known to mankind - Mesa Arch. Many people think this is part of the Grand Canyon, but it's actually found in Utah framing in a spectacular view of a section of the surrounding Canyonland panorama canyon scenery.

  • THE NARROWS WILL LEAVE YOU SPEECHLESS! It's hard to put into words the magnificence of The Narrows in Zion National Park. The Narrows is an astoundingly dramatic gorge with walls a thousand feet tall within which the pristine Virgin River flows. Pictures can only reveal a portion of its majestic splendor. You're simply going to have to see it in person to believe it.

  • THE VIEW FROM (AND THE HIKE UP) ANGELS LANDING WILL TAKE YOUR BREATH AWAY! Angels Landing is a 1,488-foot tall rock formation inside of Zion National Park with breathtaking panoramic views. It is sometimes described as the one of the world's greatest day hikes because of its narrow ascent to the top alongside of thousand foot sheer drop-offs. This is an adventure like no other and requires a strenuous 5 mile round-trip hike. But the payoff is worth every drop of sweat!

  • THE ASTONISHINGLY BIZARRE HOODOOS OF BRYCE CANYON ARE A WONDROUS SIGHT TO BEHOLD! As the National Park Services describes, "Hoodoos and forest mixed together. There is no place like Bryce Canyon. Hoodoos (odd-shaped pillars of rock left standing from the forces of erosion) can be found on every continent, but here is the largest collection of hoodoos in the world! Descriptions fail. Cave without a roof? Forest of stone? Photographs do not do it justice. An imagination and wonder will serve you when visiting Bryce Canyon National Park." We will have opportunities to hike among the hoodoos!

  • APPLE PICKING AT DELICIOUS CAPITOL REEF NATIONAL PARK! Mormon settlers moved to Capitol Reef in the 1880's and established a community known as Fruita. They planted fruit orchards beside the Freemont River and those orchards continue to produce fruit to this day. The National Park Service now preserves the orchards consisting of nearly 3000 trees which includes walnut, almond, apple, pear, peach, plum, cherry, mulberry, and apricot with various harvest times throughout the year. Our trip will take place during apple harvesting time. Visitors are welcome to walk through open orchards and freely pick and eat apples from the trees. This was one of our favorite experiences at The Mighty 5 and we believe you will love it as much as we did!

  • ENJOY A 124 MILE SCENIC DRIVE ON WORLD RENOWNED HIGHWAY 12! Sometimes the journey is as beautiful as the destination. That's exactly the case when it comes to travelling the road between Capitol Reef NP and Bryce Canyon NP. Scenic Highway 12 is rated by many to be one of the most impressive and spectacular drives in the world! One source listed it as the 2nd most beautiful highway in the world. It has officially been designated as an 'All American Road'. And we get the privilege of driving every mile of it! During the drive we will even pass along side of the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument.

  • VISIT THE INCREDIBLE HOOVER DAM! This world famous dam stands 726 feet tall and is one of the largest dams in the world. It is located in Las Vegas, NV and will be one of the many wonderful sights we see on this God-awesome adventure.

  • A DRIVE DOWN THE LAS VEGAS STRIP. Since your flights departs from Las Vegas we will be driving down the world famous Las Vegas Strip as we finish up our adventure together.

  OPTIONAL ADVENTURES:

  • BUCKET LIST ADVENTURE!!! HIKE THE NARROWS (OPTIONAL) ....

  • BUCKET LIST ADVENTURE!!! HIKE TO THE TOP OF ANGELS LANDING (OPTIONAL) ....

  • BUCKET LIST ADVENTURE!!! HIKE AMONG THE HOODOOS (OPTIONAL) ....

- TRIP SUMMARY -
This is a trip like no other!

THIS IS A 6-DAY VACATION-STYLE CHRIST-CENTERED TRIP.

WE DO OFFER OPTIONAL (NON-MANDATORY) ADVENTURES SUCH AS DAY HIKES FOR THOSE WHO DESIRE SOME ADDED PHYSICAL EXERTION.

This God-Awesome trip can be enhanced with your own personal goal setting to attempt something outside your usual routine. Again, these adventures are optional and some cost extra. Long distance hiking is not required in order to be a part of this trip.

GTD's DestiNATION Program is designed to introduce you to some of the most amazing God-awesome works of creation found within our own nation. Our goal is to bring people to God's breathtaking works of art and allow God to move, inspire, and deepen our faith in Him. The Bible states a simple, but profound truth - creation reveals a Creator:

<>< Romans 1:20
"For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities-his eternal power and divine nature."

<>< Psalms 19:1
"The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands."

Oftentimes we are so surrounded by man-made things that we are only reminded of the concrete testiments of man. It becomes easy to forget the power of God as we stop noticing the evidence of His power - creation. One of the many ways that God speaks is through His creation. It's one of the ways He humbles us while at the same time fills us up with deep appreciation and even deeper faith.

This trip will rock your world! Over the course of 6 days GTD will take you to some of the most majestic locations in the world. We will explore the majesty of God's creation and even chase after a few adventures along the way. And that's not even the best part, we will also explore the majesty of God's presence through daily devotions, praise & worship, and nightly challenges from the Bible as we hang out and have fun together.

This trip will challenge you and potentially change your life as you grow closer to God, make new friends, encounter some new adventures, and visit some of the most incredible places in our nation... and even in the world!
