SAY HELLO TO OUR NEW VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR - KIRSTEN MILLER!

    

Welcome to the party pal! We are happy to share that GTD has a new Volunteer Coordinator - Kirsten Miller! Kirsten has been volunteering and going on GTD events for the past 6 years. For the past 5 months she has been volunteering 1-2 days each week helping us with everything from administrative tasks to packing for events to lawn work to construction projects. There doesn't seem to be a task she can't do or won't try all with a fun-loving, can-do, whatever-you-need positive & optimistic attitude. She loves adventure, loves Jesus, and loves serving in whatever capacity is needed. When I let her know that one of our top needs in GTD is a Volunteer Coordinator she immediately said, "Yes!". Over the past month we have been working on updating and revamping our volunteer department. Volunteers are the indispensable movers-and-shakers game-changers of any non-profit, and we have been blessed to have some of THE BEST volunteers in this ministry for the past 30 years. Along with a positive fun-loving attitude Kirsten brings incredible organizational skills to this unpaid volunteer position. Our hope is to have our volunteer department ready to go around the end of April. During the caregiving years we needed to put countless projects & tasks on the back burner (rightfully so) while we took care of my amazing parents. After the loss of Mom & Dad all of those back burner tasks demanded attention... that added a lot more situational depression to the grief... with the wrong mindset it was overwhelming and emotionally paralyzing. But Jesus has entered the room and kicked out that weak mindset, incapacitating depression, and long haul exhaustion. Now is the season of revival! Now are the "restored years" overturning the years which the "locust has eaten" (Joel 2:25). One of the incredible ways God is restoring those years and getting years of back burner needs accomplished is through phenomenal volunteers like Kirsten! And now Kirsten is going to organize an army of volunteers that God will use to prevail over the damage from the "locusts". God is turning survival into revival!! Soooooo get ready army of God-awesome volunteers!! Opportunities to serve are in the works and on the way!! Aaaaaaaaand our first volunteer campaign will be asking an army of people to volunteer to do the most important & vital work of any ministry >>> PRAY!!! Pray that we consistently abide in Christ (John 15). Pray that we glorify God. Pray that we keep in step with the Spirit. Pray that we operate within the will of God. Pray that we do everything in Jesus name. Pray that God works through open vessels to impact lives. Pray for God to save souls, restore souls, and launch people into God's call for their lives. Pray for impact, impact, impact! Pray for more, more, more! And pray for Kirsten and all of our team/family to have great success! Welcome aboard Kirsten!! We are so glad you are on our team & a vital part of our ministry family!!

WELCOME OUR NEW EQUIPMENT & ASSET COORDINATOR - ANDREW PIEPER!

   
Andrew has been going on GTD events since he was around 13 years old. He started volunteering for our ministry several years ago and pours his heart & energy into every event we do. He has a passion to work full-time in GTD, and that's our hopes and plans within the next 2 years! Now in his young 30's, Andrew has taken a volunteer position with GTD as our Equipment & Asset Coordinator. That means he is inventorying, organizing, and overseeing all the cool gear God has blessed us with. That's a lot of stuff: canoes, kayaks, paddleboards, trucks, trailers, backpacking gear, camping equipment, and soooooo much more. For years Andrew has rearranged his work & leisure life so he could volunteer on as many trips as possible. On the trips he rises early and often works up to 16 hours a day helping our participants have a God-awesome experience. This past summer he began leading devotions and speaking during our campfire Impact Points. He has a wonderful gift of teaching! Currently Andrew rearranged his entire life to devote more time to this ministry by taking on 4-day full-time contract working with Lockheed Martin in Orlando then drives over here to Pinellas Park to volunteer up to 3 days each week for GTD. Wow, what a heart! You can tell when someone has a calling to do something because it becomes this beautiful Godly compulsion to serve that has to be leaned into. We believe Andrew is called into this ministry, and we look forward to how God develops his role in the months and years ahead. This guy is such a hard worker!! He is currently inventorying all of our backpacking gear (it's way more than most people realize) and bringing GTD into the modern era by labeling the numerous bins that the gear is stored in with QR codes to an online data base of all of our stuff. Welcome to 2026 GTD!! Great job Andrew! We are so blessed to have you on our team and in our ministry family!!

NO LIMITS!! ...WE CAN'T EVEN IMAGINE GOD'S PLANS FOR US! ...WOW!!!

   

As I continue on from SURVIVAL to REVIVAL, God continues to resuscitate my excitement & zeal for life as He revives my soul. As I was praying & praising God a few days ago He reminded me of a God-awesome verse that deeply encourages me. 1 Corinthians 2:9 says, "no human mind has conceived the things God has prepared for those who love him" Wowwww!!! I have a vivid imagination and God is saying that even in my greatest thoughts & dreams I don't even get close to conceiving the amazing things God has prepared for me (us)!! One year ago the devil rolled a stone up to the edge to ambush me & this ministry... and it almost worked >>> ALMOST!! Now the stone is rolling back overtop of him as God revives me & relaunches this ministry (Proverbs 26:27). Every plan of the enemy to kill, steal, & destroy is being swallowed up by the abundant life of Jesus (John 10:10). My favorite author, Tim Hansel, once said to, "Turn your theology into your biography!" In other words, "integrate God's word & promises into every part of your life". As someone once said, "The best version of the Bible isn't the KJV (King James Version) or the NIV (New International Version); it's the 'RLV' ('Real Life Version'). That's the "version" when you apply the word of God into your real day-to-day life." So today I dance on the grave I once lived in and I celebrate a God who never stops rescuing his sheep... never stops counting the very few hairs on my head... that never gives up even when I/we do. Aaaaaaaaand as He revives me He reminds me that I can't even begin to imagine the plans He still has for me!! Thank You Jesus!!!!! 30 years ago I wrote the Vision Statement for Going The Distance Adventure Ministry. When you have an almighty & unpredictable God it's nearly impossible to reduce endless potential down to a "vision statement". So with endless possibilities of where God may take this ministry I entered the most honest vision statement I could. Our official ministry Vision Statement is: NO LIMITS! Now 30 years later we stand on the edge of some pretty cool God-sized "NO LIMITS" developments. My request is that you pray for this ministry and everyone involved that we abide in Christ, work in the power of the Holy Spirit, walk in an uncommon unity, resist the enemy, flee temptation, administer grace & love when we fail, and do everything for God's glory.... and have a whole lot of fun along the way!! God is up to something very special... even beyond our imaginations!! Thank you for your prayers and encouragement! NO LIMITS!!
